The third Abergavenny Food Festival Christmas Food and Drink Fair takes place on Sunday 9 December. Sponsored by Brewin Dolphin – one of the UK’s largest independent private client investment managers – it’s your chance to get everything sorted on the culinary front. With over ninety hand-picked exhibitors, the focus is firmly on Christmas food (no tinsel side-shows).
Your £3.50 stroller ticket doesn’t just buy access to the markets. There’s also an all-day rolling programme of free seasonal chef dems in the Market Hall on the Robert Price Kitchen Stage featuring local talent alongside some festival regulars. Performers include Matt Tebbut (chef proprietor of The Foxhunter and presenter of Channel 4’s ‘Food Unwrapped’. Michelin Star chef James Sommerin (The Crown at Whitebrook) and Jane Baxter (Riverford Field Kitchen) These bite-size sessions (half-an-hour) giving you a chance to draw inspiration from culinary class acts.
In addition there’s a complementary programme of special individually ticketed Tutored Tastings priced between £6.00 and £7.50. Take time out from shopping and join some very special experts as they create fabulous festive treats for you to sample in the relaxed and intimate environment of the Angel Hotel Ballroom. Enjoy a sampling of sherries and fortified wines with Spanish wine expert Jose Velo-Rego, a tasting of fine chocolates from master chocolatier Barry Colonso, a whisky session with Eddie Ludlow and Whisky Lounge, and party food with Lindy Wildsmith of the Chef’s Room Cookery School Blaenavon.
