The award-winning Abergavenny Food Festival is back for the weekend 18 & 19 September. As well as the markets, you can catch the brightest lights of the food world in action. There’s family entertainment in the grounds of the Castle, chef dems in the Victorian Market Hall, lively debate in the dome, children’s workshops, and outdoor cooking with fire.
Visitor numbers will be restricted this year. You must buy your £10 day Stroller ticket in advance online at www.abergavennyfoodfestival.com or in person from E H Accountancy, 1 Horsingtons Yard, Abergavenny NP7 5PN – 09:30 to 14:00, Mon – Fri. No walk-up on the day.
This year’s line-up will include Matt Tebbutt and Olly Smith (BBC Saturday Kitchen), Chetna Makhan (YouTube channel Food with Chetna), Michelin-starred Chris Harrod – Chef proprietor of The Whitebrook in Monmouthshire and protégée of Raymond Blanc, Jane Baxter – chef, cookery writer and co-founder of Wild Artichokes Kitchen, and French-trained Vanessa Kimbell who runs the Sourdough School in Northants. Hang Fire girls, Sam and Shauna (founders of Hang Fire Smokehouse), will be back by popular demand. More names to be announced.
Buy your Stroller ticket online right now and your number will go in the pot (and stay there into September) for a fortnightly Grand Foodie Raffle. There will be a star prize every two weeks, like a quality getaway break for two. Lots of other goodies up for grabs – fine-dining, courses, food hampers and a host of naughty sweet treats, as well as signed cookery books. You can also order a substantial free Festival magazine, jam-packed with articles and recipes. Magazine and tickets will be posted out in early August.
