Crickhowell Choral Society will be hosting another of its hugely popular Come and Sing events on Saturday 15th February in St. Mary’s Church in Abergavenny.
What better way of beating the winter blues than by joining a large choir of like-minded music lovers in singing Handel’s glorious Messiah? Even if you don’t currently sing with a choir or haven’t sung for a long time you are welcome to take part. Under the expert leadership of Stephen Marshall, Crickhowell Choral Society’s musical director, the morning workshop and afternoon rehearsal will give you the confidence to sing this wonderful work and you will be surrounded by supportive singers. There will be a public evening performance with an orchestra and the soloists will be former choral scholars of Crickhowell Choral Society who are currently pursuing undergraduate music studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music.
The day will start with registration to include tea and coffee followed by a workshop, all in the Methodist Church in Abergavenny, after which there will be an hour’s lunch break. The afternoon rehearsal will take place in St. Mary’s Church, where the orchestra and soloists will join the choir before a longer break prior to the performance at 7pm. As this is always such a popular event you are advised to book as soon as possible. Places are limited to 150 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
For those who would rather listen than sing, the evening performance will be an unmissable opportunity to hear this perennial favourite. Tickets for participation are £20.00 and for the evening concert £10.00.
