Crickhowell Adventure, short listed twice in TGO Magazine’s Outdoor Awards, in the Outdoor Independent Retailer category, started way back in 1977 when Jeff Thomas and John Inns rented the basement of what was then ‘The Cheese Press’, (now Bookish) in the High Street, Crickhowell. Sadly John is no longer with us, so the shop is now in the capable hands of Jane and her great assistants, Elsa and Rob.
They all enjoy the outdoors in many varied ways, walking, cycling and running, and are only too happy to test new clothing and equipment as part of their jobs! This means they can advise about products from personal experience, giving customers first-hand advice and super personal service. They enjoy chatting to customers about where they have been and swapping ideas for future adventures…whether yours or theirs!
A new extended footwear selection means they have an excellent range of brands, including Asolo, Aku, Scarpa, Dolomite, Berghaus, Merrell and CMP and models to fit almost any foot shape. The range is from the B2 crampon compatible Veloce GTX shoe from Dolomite to the Barefoot shoe from Merrell, the Trail Glove and loads more in between! You can be assured that great care will be taken when finding the correct boot for you as they know that having the correct footwear is essential for the perfect adventure!
Alongside footwear, for any mountain adventure, or any hills for that matter, rucksacks are a good idea! They stock rucksacks of various sizes from Deuter, Lowe Alpine and Montane, if you enjoy running on the hills then there is also a selection of rucksacks from OMM, much more light weight and fitting close to the body so there is no movement.
New summer stock is arriving, clothing from Sherpa Adventure Gear, which is always colourful and yet technical too, making sure you look good on the hills! Base layers, mid layers, trousers and outer shells from Marmot, Montane and Mountain Hardwear. Lovely and practical pieces which have been chosen personally.
For any Camping adventures you need look no further to find the essentials from food to gas, pillows, sleeping bags and tents, the list is endless.
