Singer Songwriter, Kizzy Crawford will be contributing to the festival on Saturday

22nd April in Abergavenny will see a whole host of writers sharing their experiences through talks, readings, workshops and performances at the Abergavenny Writing Festival.

The three day event from 20th to 22nd April will take place at the Kings Arms Hotel and Broadleaf Books in Abergavenny. The aim is to offer something for everyone with writing activities ranging from talks about journalism and getting your work published, through to creative writing and poetry workshops. This year there will even be a song-writing workshop from singer songwriter Kizzy Crawford and a Letterpress workshop given by artist and poet Francesca Kay.

Visitors to the 2nd Aber Writing Fest will be able to join artist Catherine Wynne-Paton for insights into her approach and get hands on with her technique, with an introduction to Catherine’s art practice followed by a practical workshop session using writing to stimulate expressive miniature paintings. Or come and listen to writer, speaker and social entrepreneur, Marie Yates (author of the Dani Moore Trilogy) to learn more about how writing can lead you to create the businesses and lifestyle of your dreams.

Best-selling fiction writer Julia Gregson (author of Monsoon Summer and East of the Sun) will talk about her writing experiences – giving hints, tips and encouragement. There will be poetry readings from Paul Henry, Christopher Meredith and Phil Bowen and songs from Kizzy Crawford and Rufus Mufasa – both innovative bi-lingual writers and performers.

As the event takes place during the second week of the school Easter holidays this year there will be children’s events taking place every day including a writing workshop from the immensely successful children’s author Nicola Davies. Nicola will also offer a session for grown-ups too on what it really takes to write a picture book. There will be storytelling sessions from Alison Newsam and Louby Lou’s storytelling.

The event draws on local talent and aims to get everyone along to be inspired, get writing and have fun! The Aber Writing Fest is supported for the 2nd year by founding sponsor Abergavenny estate agent Christie Residential and by Literature Wales.
