One of the key objectives of FCM is to introduce a series of music programmes employing students and young professional musicians. For our second concert of the 2016 season we are thrilled, therefore, to welcome an exciting young string quartet, the Eilan Quartet, through our trustees’ links with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. They are already making waves and have recently given performances at Cardiff Museum, Prior Park in Bath and Penarth’s All Saint’s Church. The programme will follow a brief musical timeline of string quartets, starting with Haydn through to Debussy and ending with a short arrangement of Welsh songs. You don’t want to miss this fabulous occasion!
As an experiment this year, we are also hosting an ‘Artist (or Maker) in Residence’ at each concert. Our Artists in Residence for this evening are Dawn Cripps (textiles & embroidery) and Imogen Cripps (watercolours & line drawing)
Many of you will have seen and love Dawn’s work from the Haymakers Gallery and also the Glasbury Arts Festivals. Although her background is in Environmental Science, she has always had a passion for textiles and a move to the Marches has enabled her to follow this as a new career path.
Imogen, her daughter, is also becoming known from the Glasbury Arts Festivals. She is studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge and this curiosity in natural phenomena and the world around us is reflected in the closely observed, meticulous detail of her work.
Do come and join us it should be an outstanding Evening!
Tickets at £12 each are available from our usual outlets: Abergavenny Music, Ardent Gallery (Brecon), Crickhowell Resource & Information Centre, Haymakers Gallery (Hay-on-Wye), at the door, or phone 01874 730263
