“Can’t repeat the past? Why of course you can” Jay Gatsby
On Friday 11th September, The Angel Hotel, Abergavenny, is hosting A Flapper’s Evening in association with Emma Corfield-Walters of {Book-ish} Crickhowell and Pan Macmillan.
It’s a swingin’ soiree, inspired by four enthralling publications about (or set in) 1920’s America;
‘Mrs. Hemingway’ by Naomi Wood ‘Villa America’ by Liza Klaussmann ‘Axeman’s Jazz’ by Ray Celestin ‘A Curious Friendship’ by Anna Thomasson
On arrival, guests will be greeted with the mellow tones of local group Red Rug Jazz & cocktails in the splendid surroundings of The Angel’s (fully licensed) Ballroom bar & terrace. A hot two course buffet will then be served in the decadent Ballroom and the authors of the four publications will then discuss their works and the ‘lost generation’.
Dancing will follow till late to the sounds of the roaring twenties from ‘Inspector Gadjo with special guest Casey Greene’.
Although not compulsory, the organisers are encouraging guests to dress in 1920’s style attire and can recommend a visit to Alison Tod’s boutique on Cross Street for the perfect hat/fascinator to complete any outfit.
The evening will commence at 7.00pm and tickets cost £35 per person. Bookings are essential and may be made by telephoning The Angel Hotel on 01873 857121.
