This year is 170 years since the first Usk Show.  In 1844 the show started as a ploughing match for Usk Farmers’ Club members and today it has grown to be one of the busiest one-day agricultural shows in the UK.

Grand-Parade-Ben-Baker

Always held on the Second Saturday in September (13th September this year) and held at The Usk Showground (NP15 1DD) at Gwernesney, just outside Usk, the Show is still unique in only accepting agricultural exhibits from Usk Farmers Club members, but there is so much more to this Show Day than just livestock. Alongside the Cows, Sheep, Pigs and Goats, you can see Horses and Show Jumping, visit the Poultry, Rabbits, Horticulture and Homecraft marquees.  There’s Vintage Tractors and a Steam Corner too, plus a Companion Dog Show that is open to all and will this year be fundraising for the St David’s Foundation.

New in the Main Ring for 2014 is stunt legend and all-round showman, Jez Avery with his amazing stunt show. The Welsh Axemen will be there again, performing in the Countryside Ring alongside displays from Black Mountain Falconry, Rowan Working Horses, Wye Valley Working Gundogs and The Ferguson Club.  The Curre and Llangibby Hunt will parade their hounds in the Main Ring at lunchtime and the Grand Parade of Prize Winning Livestock and Horses at 3:30 is a time-honoured tradition that celebrates local farmers and talented exhibitors.

There are over 300 traders outside and under canvas, selling everything from agricultural supplies to clothing, homeware and jewellery.  There are sideshows and children’s entertainments, plus a chance to have a go at Circus Skills for free with Circus Whiz.

On-site car parking is free, or you can catch the free Shuttle Bus that runs from Usk Square, or leave your car at their free Park & Ride car park at Usk College.  Adult and Family (2 Adults & up to 3 children aged 5-15) tickets can be purchased now via our website, www.uskshow.co.uk and will save you £5 per family and £3 per adult off the Show Day price.  Entry on the day will be £12 per Adult, £30 per Family and £4 per child.  Under 5s are free.
