The Rickshaw Challenge for BBC Children in Need is back! This year is the third year and it’s the biggest and most challenging ever. For the first time, riders will visit all four UK nations, pedalling around the clock to cover 700 miles raising money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. This year, the riders passed through our very own Abergavenny!
The journey began on Friday 8 November in Northern Ireland. The team is made up of five young people each supported by projects funded by BBC Children in Need and their partners, including The One Show’s Alex Jones. Following the Northern Ireland leg, the team crossed the Irish Sea into Scotland, before pedalling down the west of England and into Wales. Finally the team will head back into England, finishing at BBC Elstree live on the BBC Children in Need Appeal Show on Friday 15th November.
The One Show’s Rickshaw Challenge has raised in excess of £3.5 million for the charity to date. The team is hoping that with the increased distance, journey into all four nations, and around-the-clock pedalling, this year’s amazing efforts will help raise more money than ever before.
The One Show have been on the road with Team Rickshaw and have been broadcasting live every weeknight from the finish lines. It was Abergavenny’s turn on 13th November. Below is a gallery of some of our photos from the night.
You can follow Team Rickshaw’s progress each day on The One Show, and updates will also be available on bbc.co.uk/pudsey and on Twitter via #TeamRickshaw.
